Cultural rights are fundamental human rights. They protect the rights of everyone, individually and collectively, as well as the rights of groups of people, to develop and express their humanity, their vision of the world and the meaning they give to their existence and personal fulfilment through things such as their values, beliefs, convictions, languages, knowledge, artistic expression, institutions and ways of life. Cultural rights also protect access to the cultural resources and heritage that enable these identification and development processes.
