Cultural action includes all projects aimed at raising public awareness about an artistic practice or encouraging people to attend performances or discover the visual arts. Cultural action is usually rooted in social and cultural initiatives and does not necessarily have any artistic aspirations.

But when used by artists, it can take on an additional dimension with real artistic purpose – in which case the term “artistic action” can be used.
