    Two types of places I would define as public spaces are for example a trainstation and a city park. What I think difines them as public has to do with a few criteria;
    – the place should be accesible to all general population (so no private property); both the trainstation and a city park are open for all general population and are even designed to bring people together. In case of the trainstation it serves as a space to “collect” likeminded people (people who want to travel to another place by train), and in case of a city park it serves as a place where people can gather in a “nature”like setting within the city.
    – the place should be free accesible; if I would compare the trainstation and a park with another place people often meet, f.e. a theater, they are significantly different. In a theater we say everyone is welcome, but not everyone will be able to pay an entrance ticket or fit the social “status” to be accepted within the theater. In contrast both the trainstation and a park don’t exclude.
    – the place should give a possibility for individuals to meet and exchange oppinions; both the trainstation and the park facilitate the possibility of interactions between individuals outside their homes.

    Hello,

    My name is Camiel and I live in the Netherlands.
    I studied Visual Arts in the University here in Utrecht and after that I studied Circus in Rotterdam.
    For a long time now I am performing with streettheater companies on festivals and I did some performance art projects in the public space.
    At the moment I came to realise it was time for me to combine my expertise within the visual arts and the performing arts. Intrueged by the concept of the “Super Human” I do physical and inspirational research.

    One of my al time favourite artist and huge inspirator is Johan Lorbeer.
    I had the luck to bump into one of his performances a few years ago. It still gives me shivers.

    I enjoy finding out all of your inspirations!
