– The location: community centers and shared spaces. These seemed to be spaces of encounters, with the addition of the pieces painted by everone.
– The audience: the public takes an active part, sitting around tables to work on their crafts, talking and telling stories. The artists organize and document everything.

– The location: a museum in Barcelona, the performers are like human art exhibits and interact with the pieces around them, having scene design elements that are also artistic
– The audience: has an active role at some moments, but can also just contemplate

– An open place that is public-administrated and part of everyday life for many people.

SHOPPING MALL
– Even though it is a private place, it has public circulation. It’s somewhere people go to spend time and go about with more safety, in the same circumstances of a street, but inside walls.

DEFINITION
A place where people from different households attribute meaning and are free to circulate, visit and occupy at a determined time. This shared sense of meaning can create a community between those that go to this place.

Hello, I’m Thainan. I am a Brazilian theater artist, academic researcher and enterpreneur.

One of the most memorable public space performances I’ve seen is Diluvio MA, made by local collective of artists Coletivo EcoPoética, presented over the sewage cannal that cuts our capital. This piece has traveled a lot of cities in Brazil, and totally resignified some marginalized places for me. Here’s a trailer:
